Cold Stores (Meat)

All your Questions answered in one place

Meat Cold Stores plays a vital role in preservation of meat which could be red meat, chicken or sea food. The meat is also exported to various countries and is very big business .The additional challenges in meat stores is to ensure hygienic conditions and becomes more critical if the stores are meant for export. Different climatic conditions brings additional challenges of preservation.
Humidity control is even though very important is often overlooked because of cost cutting, technology unawareness. During loading / unloading of the product into / from the meat stores, fresh air enters from loading dock to anti chamber and then in turn to the main cold stores. The fresh air entering the stores is moisture laden air hence when this air comes in contact with the cold surfaces inside the cold stores condensation occurs

Our Product Details

The condensation causes the following:
Mold / mildew / fungus growth leading to unhygienic conditions.
Poor sanitation
Bad odor & fungal growth inside the plant
Spoilage of product being stored.
Sogging / soggy cartons.
Dripping of moisture from the ceiling.
Wet / slippery floors.
Fog formation
Frost formation (Ice formation) on the evaporator coils.
Ice formation on the walls, ceilings, doors etc.
Ice formation on the plastic strips at the entrance door etc.
Hence Humidity control is very important in cold stores and generally temperature in the range of 4° C ~ (-) 20° C is maintained in these stores.
Advantages of humidity control:
No growth of Mold / mildew / fungus growth
Maintain Hygienic conditions
No spoilage of product being stored.
No sogging / soggy cartons.
No condensation/dripping of moisture from the ceiling.
No wet / slippery floors.
No fog formation
No frost formation (Ice formation) on the evaporator coils.
No ice formation on the walls, ceilings, doors etc.
No ice formation on the plastic strips at the entrance door etc

Warehouse Low Humidity
Warehouses are two types conditioned & UN conditioned. Conditioned warehouses are those where temperature is controlled and UN conditioned doesn't have any temperature control. Type of warehouse depends on products to be stored. More and more warehouses are being set up now for storing various products.
Lots of warehouses require temperature control.Humdity control is also important based on the items to be stored & protect them from organic & non organic corrosion. Some products requires only Humidity control some may require only temperature control and may require both temperature & humidity control
Low Humidity warehouses refer to those where humidity control is must. Humidity levels require to be controlled totally depends on the products/items kept inside the warehouses.
Advantages of humidity control:
No spoilage of product being stored.
No sogging / soggy cartons.
No mold / mildew / fungus growth.
No inorganic corrosion
Longer shelf life
Less or no wastage of products
With the help of chemical dehumidifier the humidity can be controlled to the desired levels inside the warehouses. Dehumidifiers can be installed as stand alone or in combination of inbuilt AHU for temperature control, if required
